Sara Joe Wolansky is an award-winning documentary filmmaker and photojournalist based in Los Angeles. Her work has been exhibited at domestic and international film festivals, over 20 photography galleries, including two one-woman shows, and at the Clinton Global Initiative 2011 Annual Meeting, among other venues.
Sara Joe recently completed her degree in Film and TV Production at the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts. She worked both on-set and in the studio for documentary filmmaker Lauren Greenfield (The Queen of Versailles, Thin) and as a PA and editing intern for Montage of Heck, directed by Oscar-nominee Brett Morgen. Sara Joe graduated magna cum laude with highest departmental honors from Harvard University with a bachelor’s degree in sociology and a minor in film studies. She served as the Photography Chair of The Harvard Crimson and made films for the Harvard Law Documentary Studio.
Sara Joe additionally serves as a counselor for a confidential, anonymous, and non-judgmental crisis line. She loves to travel and has authored and contributed to over 10 commercially-available Let’s Go travel publications including Let’s Go: Boston 2010 and The Unofficial Guide to Harvard 2010, which she co-authored. Sara Joe loves eating spicy food, folk art, hiking, figure drawing, writing, cat videos, and long walks along the Los Angeles coastline.
